The Cornerstone of our program is fostering a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Many treatment centers stress a “spiritual component” but we are specifically about pursuing the hearts of our residents just as God pursues us on a daily basis.
12 If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them wanders away, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others on the hills and go out to search for the one that is lost? 13 And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he will rejoice over it more than over the ninety-nine that didn’t wander away! 14 In the same way, it is not my heavenly Father’s will that even one of these little ones should perish.
We strive to reflect to the heart of this passage in how we treat our residents. Many of whom have been lost or have walked away from God altogether. We know we only play a small part in God’s plan, but we are burdened to pursue the hearts of men above all else.
At times, our residents get frustrated with us because we are holding them accountable to a standard of living that some have never considered before. Even though friendships often develop over a period of 90 days, we remain vigilant about what we are to provide our residents with while they are in treatment. We try to have as much grace as we can with them and encourage them to offer grace and forgiveness to others during and after their 90 day treatment at Stonegate Center.
