Nutrition Program in Addiction TreatmentIntegrating Nutrition Within Addiction Treatment Plan
At Stonegate Center, located in Azle, Texas, we understand how substance abuse can disrupt many areas of health, including nutrition. One of the fundamental aspects in maintaining a healthy lifestyle is the introduction of a well-balanced, nutritious diet. And at Stonegate Center, you’ll find most of our healing gets done around the kitchen table. Since drug and alcohol addiction weakens the body, we aim to re-build our client’s immune system levels through a full-bodied meal plan. We have developed a 30-day rotating menu that hosts an array of lean proteins, whole grain foods, and plenty of fruits and vegetables. The health benefit of each meal is carefully assessed in order to undo the damage caused during the addition of harmful substances in one’s bout with addiction.
During your stay at Stonegate Center, your lungs will be filled by the rich aromas that permeate down our residence halls during meal preparation. In effort to restore your physiological balance, we have a licensed dietician review each meal to determine its effectiveness in introducing new sources of vitamins and minerals to the body. We take the time to make sure each individual is substantially nourished. If you or a loved one has any allergies or dietary restrictions that our team needs to take into account during their stay, please call one of our on-call Admissions Specialists at (817) 993-9799.
Additionally, our program is intended familiarize our clients with the kitchen as a therapeutic means for recovery. This is seen in our Life Skills Courses when our culinary chef puts the apron and glove on or clients and teaches them valuable cooking skills and creative approaches to staple, household meals. We firmly believe that the kitchen can be a source of collaboration that will build social bonds and connectivity to a steadfast recovery community. Stonegate’s culinary creativity and nutritional balance allows for physical, mental, and spiritual healing for each of our clients. The pleasing smells, vibrant colors, and savory tastes supplement a serene and relaxing environment that allows our guys (and girls) to get to know each other in their respective settings. This helps boost self-image and restores confidence – all key attributes that replace destructive thought patterns with positive ones.
